So excited to head home! I feel rested and recharged, strong and lean from all the hiking and moderate eating, playful, ready to take this next step (even with that twinge of adrenaline).
You know sometimes it just takes getting out of your routine (and in my case, living two extraordinarily different and full lives), that made me hit the reset button!
It's 11pm and I'm leaning on a jet plane....

dreams of flying and bubbles
I had a very vivid dream, my second night at Gina's, about flying and bubbles.
In it, I had the ability to fly, but I was learning how to make it work. I had a few mentors that were able to show me how they flew. And I practiced and practiced and got better and better.
I realized that I flew when I thought about bubbles. If I could visualize bubbles -- a whole slew of bubbles that foamed together much like what you would see with soap, my legs would lift and I would go horizontal and I would be able to hover and then soar and control my altitude and speed by how much I could think about bubbles. The moment my attention wandered or I got distracted, I would crash to the ground, only to be saved from impact through the fleeting thought of a bath full of bubbles.
According to some dream dictionaries, let's talk about flying and bubbles:
Bubbles
You know from past experience that creating bubbles is an experiment that’s both fleeting and fragile. As you blow the mixture through the wand, you see something delicate take shape. Once that bubble is launched out into the world, it only has a certain lifespan before it bursts.
Bubbles in dreams are symbolic of a reasonable quantity of joy and youthful abandon if something like that can even be quantified. If you have a dream in which you are blowing bubbles, it means that you are having the time of your life currently. You are taking a vacation from all of the normal stresses that you feel and have resolved to try and be happier.
That bubble can serve as a spiritual metaphor for life. Our lives can also be fleeting and fragile. As we grow in awareness, we realize how fast time flies and we come to understand how precious our existence really is. Like an exquisite iridescent bubble, each person’s life is uniquely beautiful. For a short time it’s a floating miracle for all to behold, until it is no more. Once the bubble bursts and the liquid disperses, it becomes part of the earth, the air and the greater whole. And so do we once our time on this planet ends. It is a thing of beauty.
Bubbles also represent hopes and dreams. As a bubble maker you strive to create a bubble that will be bigger and last longer. Take that same determination and apply it to your life’s goals. Know that you have the power to create and improve upon your creations.
When bubbles are around, they provide rare moments of magic. They serve as reminders to appreciate the charm and grace of the present moment. They also symbolize childhood innocence, merriment and fun. When you see these glass-like orbs dancing in the air, you can’t help but lose all your cares and worries—even if it is for just a brief moment.
Flying
In a general sense dreams about flying are about expanding who you are as a person. More specifically, flying dreams are about freedom, adventure, gaining momentum and getting off the ground.
If you are flying with ease and are enjoying the scene and landscape below, then it suggests that you are on top of a situation. You have risen above something. It may also mean that you have gained a new and different perspective on things. Flying dreams and the ability to control your flight is representative of your own personal sense of power.
Having difficulties staying in flight indicates a lack of power in controlling your own circumstances. You may be struggling to stay aloft or stay on set course. Things like power lines, trees, or mountains may be obstacles that you encounter in flight. These obstacles symbolize something or someone who is standing in your way in your waking life. You need to identify what or who is trying to prevent you from moving forward. Difficulty flying may also be an indication of a lack of confidence or some hesitation on your part. You need to believe in yourself and not be afraid.
Flying dreams symbolize your strong mind and will. You feel undefeatable and that nobody can tell you what you cannot do and accomplish. Such dreams are sure to leave you with a great sense of freedom.
But, seriously, here I thought it was just a fun dream about bucking convention. ; )

Writers and life
You know how it is when you stumble across a writer who speaks to you... Who conveys your life in their words. Who captures your family in their books and their stories. Who somehow gets you.
For me, it's Alice Hoffman. I don't know how she does it, but I feel my sisters and my parents on every page. I relish getting a new story from her -- it feels like I'm greedily devouring an old journal that was spotted in the rafters of an abandoned house and it describes, vividly, my family and my life.
I hope one day I can thank her for the gifts she had given me.

Love and writing
Much newness is about to unfold
My world is undergoing another transformation
It's scary and I wish that I will emerge as a butterfly
And it's exciting
I love the prospect of change
What frightens me is that I make the wrong choices around all the logistics that are required -- financial, location, school, etc.
But they are not final, not definite and if I approach them as starting points and steps in the right direction, then I know I can't make the wrong decisions.
One step at a time. Towards clarity. Towards things clicking together. Towards my destiny!

The ripeness
The fruit of a new year, new beginnings, lays ripe before me.
Ready for the taking
Rich with juice
Succulent and sweet
I can hear the crisp bite that my lips and teeth would taste
The essence of that life surrounds my mouth with so much potential
I can feel the sweetness escape down my throat
And the rush of energy and lust that is released.
The succor of the fields and harvest stimulate my senses.
And I surrender.
